A2 is a milestone you can use beyond the exam

At A2, you are working toward everyday exchanges: explaining a simple problem, asking a follow-up question, understanding the main point of a message, and writing a short note. If you are applying for a first multi-year residence card, A2 may also be the language level you need to demonstrate. The requirement depends on your individual situation, so check the official guidance before booking a test.

Speak with more ease

Practise answering questions about your life and plans, and responding when the conversation takes an unexpected turn.

Understand what matters

Listen and read for key information, from appointment details to simple instructions.

Write with purpose

Work on short messages that make sense to a real reader, as well as the tasks your chosen exam requires.

Which A2 French exam should you prepare for?

A2 is a level, not the name of a single exam. We first establish what your application or personal goal requires; then your lessons follow the format of the exam you choose.

DELF A2

An independent diploma at A2 level, valid for life. We practise its four assessed skills and the specific tasks in each paper.

TCF IRN

A French language test used for integration, residence and nationality procedures. We work with its timed tasks and four skills.

TEF IRN

Another recognised language test for those procedures. Preparation follows its own question types and timing.

Your preparation fits your level and your life

We begin with a short look at your speaking, listening, reading and writing. Some learners need to build a stronger A2 base; others are ready to practise the exam format. Your plan reflects both, as well as the time you can realistically give to French.

1 · Find your starting point

Identify the skills that already feel comfortable and the ones holding you back.

2 · Practise with a purpose

Use exercises and conversations that match your chosen exam and your life in France.

3 · Rehearse the test

Try timed tasks, receive targeted feedback and leave with a clear revision plan.

Learn with Feel Good French

Our teachers—Déborah, Olivia, Margot and Claudia—work with adults who are preparing a move to France or making a life here. Your exam matters, and so does the French you will use after it. Lessons are shaped around your level, your project and your available time.

Questions you may have

Do I need DELF A2, TCF IRN or TEF IRN?

That depends on the document you need and the procedure you are following. Check the official requirements for your situation before you register. In a first conversation, we can look at the exam format you have chosen and the preparation it calls for.

Is A2 the same as the civic exam?

No. A2 describes a language level. The civic exam assesses knowledge of French institutions, values and everyday civic life. For some applications, both requirements apply.

Can I start if I am not yet at A2?

Yes. We can work toward A2 from your actual starting point. The time needed depends on your current skills, available study time and exam date; I will not promise a result before we have assessed those.
